Distinguished artists Madeleine Mitchell and Joseph Spooner first performed Brahms Double Concerto with the Bloomsbury Chamber Orchestra and also are members of the outstanding London Chamber Ensemble Quartet, renowned for their recordings for early 20th century British Music. Their Howells & Wood Quartets album for SOMM was one of Gramophone's recommended recordings 2024 and they perform at the English Music Festival 23 May 2026 in Dartington Great Hall.

"The magnificent Mitchell, dedicated penetrating musicianship" BBC Music Magazine  "Superb...arresting in his commitment" International Record Review re Joseph Spooner

Madeleine Mitchell has previously performed Grace Williams Violin Concerto and Vaughan Williams 'The Lark Ascending' with the BCO before recording both with BBCNOW. She was presented with an award by the Delius Society in the composer's 150th anniversary year for her outstanding performance and advocacy worldwide.

Grieg was a friend of Delius, whose Concerto for Violin, Cello and Orchestra was composed for May and Beatrice Harrison in 1915. Vaughan Williams' London Symphony makes a perfect pairing for this programme.

Tickets £15 (£10 concessions) are also available on the door.
