The dream team of Gerald Finley and Sir Antonio Pappano reunite for a very personal evening of solo piano music and song.
Regular collaborators at the Royal Opera House, Finley and Pappano have a unique rapport. With Pappano at the piano, Finley sings his own choice of solo songs, ranging from Beethoven and Respighi to Tosti’s exuberant Neapolitan ballads.
Any opera-buff will already know that behind Gerald Finley’s masterly stage performances is a singer with a deep understanding of text and emotional nuance. This solo recital demonstrates just how deep that sensitivity runs, in an evening of song that displays the Barbican’s featured artist as both tone-poet and uninhibited, big-hearted entertainer.
