Bartlett Sher’s 2006 production of Rossini’s tuneful masterpiece is showing its age, but a superb cast and conductor keep the comedy moving. 

Rossini’s ill-fated farce finds new life in the intelligent and enjoyable 2019 production by Leiser and Caurier at the Rossini Opera Festival, featuring a great cast under the unwavering baton of Michele Spotti. 

The Opernhaus Zürich presents yet another Cenerentola with Cecilia Bartoli in the title role, surrounded by a great cast, with the support of the period orchestra La Scintilla, under Gianluca Capuano's knowledgeable baton.

Despite some forgivable excesses, Nicola Alaimo and Cecilia Bartoli led a dream cast for a fun, engaging performance of Rossini's classic.
