The Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic and Hungarian National Choir give a searing account of Mozart’s Requiem, superbly guided by conductor Carlo Tenan. 

Embraced by Daniel Harding, Ian Bostridge, Christian Tetzlaff, Alban Gerhardt and Paul Lewis, the Parisian ensemble gives an exceptional concert, faithful to Lars Vogt’s way of making music.

The Mostly Mozart Festival ended its season with an all-Mozart program centered on the Requiem. Paired with that was a piano concerto with Stephen Hough and the rarely-heard Meistermusik.

A Mostly Mozart concert conducted by Edward Gardner and featuring Jeremy Denk was an excellent example of what this festival is trying to achieve.

Egarr, Bezuidenhout and the MSO are the perfect match in this celebration of Mozart's wit and genius, delivering historically grounded and exhilarating interpretations of treasured favourites.

Jaap van Zweden returned to the CSO with a probing account of Brahms’ German Requiem, along with shorter but no less moving works of Mozart and Wagner.

In a gilt-edged programme, Iván Fischer and Jean-Yves Thibaudet honoured the audience of the Great Hall with a splendid initiation of the New Year.

After all that tonal instability in last week’s Wagner marathon at the Proms, Daniel Harding and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra’s programme celebrating C major came as a breath of fresh air. The Royal Albert Hall had cooled down a bit too.

Dans un programme passionnant, la création de Thomas Larcher était habilement couplée à l'Adagio de la Symphonie n° 10 de Mahler, qui répondait particulièrement bien à la Musique maçonnique de Mozart.

En compagnie de l'Orchestre de Paris et de Jean-Guihen Queyras, le chef britannique proposait un programme des plus passionnants au public parisien.

On aurait pu craindre, le temps d’une Maurerische Trauermusik nous confirmant l’inadéquation de l’acoustique du TCE à l’effectif symphonique classique, que le choix de l’économie et de la joliesse, au détriment de l’émotion et de la profondeur, ne vienne blanchir la dureté d’un programme composé de véritables chefs-d’œuvre.

Le Château de Versailles proposait pour clore les célébrations pascales, un concert mettant en regard le célébrissime Requiem de Mozart à celui méconnu de Gossec. Sébastien d’Hérin, directeur des Nouveaux Caractères, a réuni pour l’occasion une équipe engagée et de talent, même si la direction du chef ne convainc pas entièrement.
