Zurich’s Tonhalle Orchestra give a stunning performance of works by Franz Schubert and Richard Strauss under guest conductor Franz Welser-Möst.

The Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich plays Schoenberg's orchestration of Brahms' G minor Piano Quartet, while Antoine Tamestit joins the orchestra as wandering soloist in Berlioz' Harold in Italy. 

In the city’s sonorous Tonhalle, and under Parvo Järvi’s dynamic baton, works by Arvo Pärt, Ludwig von Beethoven, and Anton Bruckner make for a multi-coloured programme. 

Two markedly different sound worlds, both dating from 1935, recently made for a stunning concert at Zurich’s historic Tonhalle, where the juxtaposition was as curious as it was sonorous.
