Adès, Gerstein & Sibelius

The British conductor, pianist, and composer Thomas Adès visits the Swedish Radio concert hall Berwaldhallen with his piano concerto, here performed by Kiril Gerstein for whom the work was written, and Three Studies of Couperin, his tender adaptation of music by the Baroque composer François Couperin. But first, Adès leads the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra in the overture to Hector Berlioz’s never-performed opera Les francs-juges in this concert that concludes with Jean Sibelius’s sublime Sixth Symphony.
