A father – a brilliant pianist. Sons – laureates of the world’s most prestigious competitions. Meet the second and third generations of the Kollert family.
Throughout history, musical dynasties have played a vital role in preserving and passing down artistic traditions. Just as the Bachs, Mozarts, and Strausses shaped classical music, many families have excelled in performance as well—the Järvis, Ashkenazys, Oistrakhs, and Barenboims, to name a few. In the Czech Republic, the festival has previously celebrated the Klánský and Mareček families. Now, it turns to another remarkable lineage: the Kollerts.
Jiří Kollert Sr. is an esteemed composer, and his son Jiří has established himself as a respected pianist and educator. At this concert, he will take the stage with his two sons, Richard and Eduard, both rising violin talents. Despite their young age, the brothers have already earned recognition on major Czech competition and concert stages. Their extraordinary abilities are further highlighted by the fact that both were accepted to study under Zakhar Bron—one of the most renowned violin pedagogues in the world, whose students include Maxim Vengerov and Vadim Repin.
While family tradition alone does not guarantee artistic success, it can provide the foundation for reaching new artistic heights. The Kollert family exemplifies how heritage and ambition can work together to push musical boundaries.
This concert is a benefit event. All proceeds from ticketsales will support exceptionally talented young musicians.
