BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra |
After their successful first visit last season, the BBC SSO return, this time with Yan Pascal Tortelier, for a programme celebrating the ‘Auld Alliance’. Steven Osborne is the soloist in Ravel’s jazz-inspired piano concerto, before Berlioz’s revolutionary programme symphony takes us from an opium-inspired ball, via a march to the scaffold, to a witches’ Sabbath.
- The BBC SSO regrets to announce that, due to unforeseen circumstances, Donald Runnicles, the orchestra’s Conductor Emeritus, has had to withdraw from performances at Glasgow City Halls and Sage Gateshead on 12 and 13 April 2018, respectively. The orchestra is very grateful that Yan Pascal Tortelier has agreed to step in to conduct both performances. The programmes remain unchanged.
