At the Edinburgh International Festival, Alison Balsom plays Wynton Marsalis's Trumpet Concerto, Pierre-Laurent plays Schoenberg's Piano Concerto before the RSNO plays Lutosławski's lively Concerto for Orchestra to finish.

Filmic Grażyna Bacewicz, virtuosic Saint-Saëns with Simon Trpčeski, intruiging Lutosławski and a freshly minted Ravel’s Boléro are expertly conducted by Thomas Søndergård. 

Trpčeski sparkles in Saint-Saëns' Second Piano Concerto in an adventurous Valentine's treat, while a slimmed-down fantasia makes Szymanowski's King Roger digestible.

The composer conducts the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and Chorus with Roderick Williams and Rhian Lois in Edinburgh's Usher Hall.

Composed for Baroque and modern players with Gertrude Stein’s spoken text, Heiner Goebbels Songs of War I Have Seen in an intriguing performance conducted by Ellie Slorach. 

The RSNO, Sir Andrew Davis and the Edinburgh Festival Chorus perform Tippett's oratorio with an excellent line-up of soloists.

Last minute step-in Noa Wildschut gives a thoughtful Mendelssohn Violin Concerto, before a thrilling Symphonie fantastique from the RSNO. 

Intensely dramatic Berlioz with mezzo Catriona Morison with the RSNO and Thomas Søndergård, framed by Bert Sørensen’s vivid Evening Land and a sparklingly fresh Sibelius 2.

Bruno Delepelaire is a thrilling soloist in Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations, while The Firebird dazzles.

Memorable role debuts from Dorothea Röschmann, David Butt Philip and Catriona Morison make Ariadne auf Naxos with the RSNO and Lothar Koenigs a night to savour.

The RSNO welcomes the audience back in a light and joyful French programme conducted by Thomas Søndergård with its own oboist Adrian Wilson as soloist in L'Horloge de flore.
