Yo-Yo Ma, Emanuel Ax et Leonidas Kavakos dans les Trios de Brahms à la Philharmonie : un trio de choc pour un concert d'une qualité rare, de très haute volée, où le plaisir du plublic semble égaler celui des musiciens. 

C'est dans le monde fascinant des trois Trio pour piano et cordes de Brahms que nous plonge le concert de ce soir, servi par Elena Bashkirova au piano, son fils Michael Barenboïm au violon et Julian Steckel au violoncelle. Si cette musique reste d'une très haute inspiration, l'interprétation s'avére parfois boitillante.

Le lundi 6 juin à la Philharmonie, le Trio Kavakos-Capuçon-Lugansky donnait avec éclat l’intégrale des Trios de Brahms : fournaise chambriste, performance d’une opulence extrême dans laquelle s’affirmaient pourtant trois individualités bien distinctes.

Renaud Capuçon brings his customary taste, refinement and intellect to music he has played many times over the years with a variety of partners – here Julia Hagen and Igor Levit. 

It's been nearly two years since Daniel Müller-Schott, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian and Anna Vinnitskaya last played together, and it sounded like it in an uneven programme of Debussy, Tchaikovsky and Brahms.

All three of these musicians are virtuosic soloists in their own right, but here they became far more than the sum of their parts – graceful, poised, and sensitive.

Mixed performances from this well-known ensemble, but overall fine playing that showcased the genius of Haydn and beauty of Frank Bridge.

The scheduled programme had included Trios by Debussy and Chaminade, and I’d done my homework so that at least I’d have some idea about what was what. But very unfortunately the Fiorini Trio had had to cancel at very short notice - so it was extraordinary that the concert took place at all, thanks to the London Mozart Trio standing in.
