Insula orchestra is a musical ensemble based at La Seine Musicale near Paris since 2017, under the direction of conductor Laurence Equilbey.
Known for its performances on period instruments and in-depth musical research, the orchestra strives to faithfully restore the composers’ intentions while adopting a modern perspective. The orchestra’s repertoire focuses mainly on German music, from the Enlightenment to the height of Romanticism, while also celebrating Italian and French works, including lesser-known compositions by Louise Farrenc, Clara Schumann, and Emilie Mayer. The orchestra also produces a staged opera each season, incorporating various disciplines (dance, new magic, video, manga…).
Insula orchestra is committed to giving the access to classical music to all audiences, with educational and inclusive programs and workshops, as well as an innovative digital presence to facilitate access to classical music through the digital world.
