Performer: New York Philharmonic Chorus

Kevin Puts' song cycle inspired by the correspondence of Georgia O'Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz makes its long-awaited New York debut, featuring Renée Fleming and Rod Gilfry. 

Soloists, orchestra and chorus fully contribute to a powerful rendition of Mahler's Second Symphony, but it serves as a reminder of issues that have marked van Zweden's Mahler during his New York tenure. 

A climate-centered concert features water-themed works by Britten and Takemitsu, but is built around the stunning New York premiere of Become Desert, a co-commissioned piece by John Luther Adams.
