The Norwegian pianist assembles an intricate selection of fragments, aphorisms and character pieces for an intriguing New York recital. 

A more thoughtful and intentional artist is hard to come by today, and one who graces the Musikverein donning fabulous silver shoes on top of her pianistic gifts must be heaven-sent. 

Written for a large virtuoso orchestra, Ravel himself reduced La Valse's teeming complexity to a very difficult piano solo – it is not uncommon to find “complete” live or recorded surveys of the composer’s piano music which simply omit it. But it held no terror for this artist.
