The human voice is the most intimate of instruments, and the most radiant praise is sung in the name of love.
In the first half of this concert, a curated selection of beloved love arias takes center stage, performed by tenor Ya-Chung Huang—whose remarkable appearance in Wagner's Ring Cycle at last year's Bayreuth Festival earned him widespread acclaim. He is joined by distinguished soprano Han Hsiao, baritone Han-Wei Chen, and Japanese mezzo-soprano Asami Fujii, together offering a warm, deeply expressive tapestry of vocal artistry.
Among the greatest milestones in the symphonic repertoire stands Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 “Choral”—a revolutionary work that forever reshaped the landscape of Western music. Drawing upon Schiller's exalted verses, Beethoven forged an unprecedented union of four soloists, a grand chorus, and full orchestra to proclaim a magnificent Ode to Joy.
