Staggering technique, singular sweetness of tone, huge emotional breadth and a commanding stage presence all assured Maxim Vengerov’s place as one of the true violin greats before he’d even reached his twentieth birthday. Refreshed and enlivened after his break from playing, Vengerov is sounding like a virtuoso reborn. Here he joins his regular performing partner Itamar Golan for piano-accompanied violin music including Elgar’s elusive and delicate Violin Sonata and Prokofiev’s wit-strewn Second Violin Sonata. Expect something concurrently breathtaking and intimate from this true master of virtuosic performance. The recital finishes at approximately 10pm
