One of the world's top period instrument ensembles bring Handel's Water Music and other baroque classics to Klosters.

Maurice Steger makes his debut with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra in a concert of Baroque favourites. 

Sir Roger Norrington and a strong cast joined a Baroque-style London Philharmonic Orchestra in a highly accomplished Dido and Aeneas, preceded by Handel’s clean and stately Water Music.

Under conductor Emmanuelle Haïm, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra stepped out of its classical Romantic core repertoire to play an evening of Handel. 

The Canadian chamber orchestra Les Violons du Roy, using baroque bows on metal strings at modern pitch, came to Walt Disney Concert Hall, backing Alexandre Tharaud on a big beautiful Steinway.

Dutch keyboardist and conductor Ton Koopman this weekend completed his third and final season as artist-in-residence with The Cleveland Orchestra, leading an all-Handel program that also featured the Cleveland Orchestra Chamber Chorus. It was a musically satisfying program that showed the versatility of both orchestra and chorus.

The first-ever free Late-Night Prom on Wednesday was a Handel extravaganza for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year. Flamboyant French conductor Hervé Niquet and his group Le Concert Spirituel have made a speciality of performing Handel’s Water Music and Music for the Royal Fireworks with the huge outdoor forces that would have been employed at the royal occasions.
