Experience the first chapter of a four-year project at Carnegie Hall, in which the esteemed Chamber Orchestra of Europe (COE) performs all of Brahms’s symphonies and concertos. This distinctive ensemble is renowned for its recording and performance cycles, and its 2024 recording of Brahms’s complete symphonies—its fourth such cycle under Yannick Nézet-Séguin—has drawn enormous acclaim. Gramophone writes, “It’s as if [Yannick] views each symphony—and each movement, for that matter—as an emotional journey … and the COE [musicians] play their hearts out for him … truly special music-making.” The concert also features Brahms’s Tragic Overture, followed by his final work for orchestra: the Double Concerto for Violin and Cello.
