Hickey and Milstein get the West Cork Chamber Music Festival off to a terrific start

Après les admirables Cinq Éléments de Qigang Chen, le concert de l'Orchestre de Paris a perdu de sa superbe avec un concerto mozartien conventionnel et une symphonie de Dvořák bien mal servie.

Sous le titre berliozien Des milliers de sublimités, le festival de La Côte-Saint-André proposait cette semaine une programmation riche et passionnante, à la fois ambitieuse et abordable.

Le 29 avril 2016, l'Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France jouait Ginastera, Chopin et Tchaïkovski sous la baguette de Marcelo Lehninger. Quel plaisir d'écouter jouer cet ensemble, toujours aussi excellent, et de découvrir Nathalia Milstein, jeune pianiste très prometteuse !

A well crafted, elegant Mozart Piano Concerto no. 23 in the first half counters the passions and tragedy of Mahler’s Symphony no. 6 in the second. 

Poetic Schumann and raw Prokofiev: Milstein convinces with a two composer programme. 

From an Anna Clyne Irish premiere to Tchaikovsky’s brilliance and Shostakovich’s grim wit, the NSO balances virtuosity with thoughtful nuance in Dublin.
