At the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Fazıl Say concluded his residency with the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic with an evening of jazz, Ravel and his own symphony, capturing the restless energy of an Istanbul-style metropolis.

In their final Carnegie Hall appearance of the season, the Philadelphians offered a superbly integrated program bookending a Valerie Coleman premiere with groundbreaking pieces by Ravel and Debussy. 

The American conductor and German-Japanese pianist shine in a mostly meditative program of Webern, Strauss, Ravel and Scriabin. 

A thoughtfully designed and coherent program of French music at David Geffen Hall, is played with mostly exquisite results.

Debussy’s student work Rêve received its first Cleveland performance, and pianist Javier Perianes was an impeccable soloist for Ravel’s Concerto in G Major.
