Last year, the upstart Heartbeat Opera impressively reimagined Fidelio for the Black Lives Matter era. Their new Tosca places the tragic opera about an opera singer in a land where women have been banned from singing. 

The Opernhaus Zürich revives Robert Carsen’s 1990 production, with a strong cast led by Sonya Yoncheva and Joseph Calleja.

Anthony Besch’s trusty Tosca returns to Scottish Opera with Natalya Romaniw packing a punch in the title role.
