According to Le Monde, Daniele Gatti “sketches melodies, sets fire to timbres and reveals the hidden meaning of sound”.

A specialist in conducting operas, the maestro is back in Aix this year with the Orchestre de l'Opéra National de Paris, as they forge a path together through the complexities of Wagner and Strauss’ romanticism. The Italian conductor is a regular at the Bayreuth Festival and has helmed the world’s greatest orchestras, captivating musicians and audiences alike with his hyper-sensitive touch. He manages to sublimate the most beautiful orchestral passages from Wagner’s Götterdämmerung (1876), which will be followed by Strauss’ symphonic poem Ein Heldenleben (A Hero's Life), Op. 40 (1898), purposefully chosen along the same aesthetic lines.
