L'intégrale des symphonies d'Anton Bruckner est l'un des événements majeurs de cette rentrée à la Philharmonie de Paris. Directeur musical de la Staatskapelle Berlin depuis 1992, le chef et pianiste Daniel Berenboïm présente cette saison tout un cycle Mozart-Bruckner dont ce concert dans la grande salle de la Philharmonie fut le troisième volet.

« Je ne crois pas qu’il puisse y avoir une fin au renouveau baroque », déclarait encore récemment Ton Koopman, non sans une fierté qu’on ne pourrait qualifier de mal placée.

The CBSO gives a vivid account of Bruckner’s Ninth Symphony, its structural and emotional convolution laid bare, and an athletic account of Mozart’s Piano Concerto no. 26 featuring Martin Helmchen. 

Pianist Colleen Lee displays both dexterity and delicacy in Mozart's Coronation concerto, while HK Phil strut their romantic stuff in Schumann's Rhenish Symphony.

The streamed concert showed the Aurora players' prowess as chamber musicians, joined by the excellent Swiss pianist in music by Mozart, Ravel and a specially commissioned new work by Sasha Scott.

As a pianist, Mustonen failed to deliver as would have been hoped, though as a conductor his rapport with the orchestra bore delightful results.
