María Pagés Company presents Yo, Carmen at the Edinburgh International Festival

El universo flamenco de María Pagés habla desde la verdad con vitalismo y expresividad, reivindicando la energía femenina como único camino para la transformación de la humanidad. 

Made in 2014, Yo Carmen was featured in last year’s Edinburgh Festival.  It is a show with a powerful message and one which is occasionally riveting, mostly when Pagés herself is the focus of attention.

It’s not often I leave a dance performance with a smile on my face, but it’s impossible not to feel uplifted by the UK debut of Dunas. This is not only an intriguing, thought-provoking collaboration of the best of flamenco and contemporary dance. It is quite simply refreshing, inspiring fun.

The music plays second fiddle to Australian circus company Circa in Yaron Lifschitz’s production of Gluck's great opera.
