The programme for the closing concert of Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad had a familiar form: a late twentieth century concerto sandwiched between two classical pieces – a sure sign, if ever there was one, of a “difficult” work sugar-coated by material more palatable to a mainstream audience. But signs can be misleading, extremely so in this case.

Répertoire on ne peut plus convenu, petits paraphes obséquieux : difficile de se rendre au concert sans aprioris, dès lors qu'il est question d'aller écouter Hélène Grimaud. Mais le verdict tombe sans tarder : une lecture pleine de fraîcheur de la Symphonie n° 60 de Haydn, par l'Orchestre de Chambre de la Radio Bavaroise, éclipse les deux concertos, pour le moins décevants.

Außergewöhnlich beredt brachte das Lucerne Festival Orchestra unter der Leitung von Bernard Haitink im Eröffnungsprogramm unterschiedliche Spielarten musikalischen Humors zum Klingen.
