Vienna Piano Trio impresses in stamina and sensitivity at Turner Sims

Mixed performances from this well-known ensemble, but overall fine playing that showcased the genius of Haydn and beauty of Frank Bridge.

Haydn, Mozart and Brahms provided the perfect menu for the Turner Sims Sunday afternoon tea-time concert given by the Vienna Piano Trio.

Contemporary programming at this year's festival brings a sensitive social issue close to home, culminating in Judith Markovich's “Oh, my son…” 

An attractive concert of the unusual repertoire performed by the IMS Prussia Cove – two little known string quintets by Beethoven and Mendelssohnn and a 20th century string quartet by Martinů that is woefully neglected in the concert hall.
