Dans le Concerto n° 4 de Beethoven, le pianiste suisse et le chef britannique se sont parfaitement trouvés, aux côtés d'un Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France juste et inspiré. 

Pas de clinquant, pas d’effet de manche, mais des doigts de magiciens et une émotion intime : le récital de Francesco Piemontesi à l'Auditorium de Lyon a marqué les esprits.

Si la direction d'Eva Ollikainen a déçu dans la Quatrième Symphonie de Brahms, la première partie du concert fut autrement plus réussie, avec un admirable Concerto K 503 de Mozart par Francesco Piemontesi.

Le pianiste italien s'est fait l'avocat éloquent de deux oeuvres concertantes trop peu jouées : les Variations Symphoniques de César Franck et la Burleske de Richard Strauss.

Le 5 avril marque les débuts de Jérémie Rhorer avec l’Orchestre de Paris. Entre l'Ouverture de « Polyeucte » de Dukas, le Concerto de Schumann joué par Francesco Piemontesi et la quatrième symphonie de Mendelssohn, le chef a l'occasion de faire ses preuves. Un programme haut en couleurs qui se révèle parfaitement maîtrisé !

Concert le 10 novembre de l'Orchestre de la radio de Berlin dans la salle du Berliner Philharmoniker. Sous la prestigieuse direction de Marek Janowsky, un impeccable orchestre propose deux pièces de Hindemith puis accompagne dans le 4° Concerto de Beethoven, le relativement jeune et éminent pianiste, Francesco Piemontesi remplaçant Yefim Bronfman souffrant.

Une bien belle soirée au Victoria Hall qui aura trouvé son sommet dans le concerto pour piano de Brahms, servi impeccablement par Francesco Piemontesi, après quelques errements dans les méandres des fleuves russes.  

« Je ne crois pas qu’il puisse y avoir une fin au renouveau baroque », déclarait encore récemment Ton Koopman, non sans une fierté qu’on ne pourrait qualifier de mal placée.
