Domingo Hindoyan conducts the RLPO in gently poetic Bruckner after Timothy Chooi makes his debut with the orchestra in Bruch's Scottish Fantasy.

In the city’s sonorous Tonhalle, and under Parvo Järvi’s dynamic baton, works by Arvo Pärt, Ludwig von Beethoven, and Anton Bruckner make for a multi-coloured programme. 

With two very well-known pieces, could Gabriela Montero, Gražintyė-Tyla and the CBSO find ways of keeping them interesting? The answer was a resounding ‘Yes’. 

Ellen Reid’s evocative new work and Renée Fleming’s set of songs from her album “Distant Light” were the highlights of a program that included an uninspiring Bruckner Fourth Symphony.
