La célèbre Symphonie n° 2 de Mahler n'a pas produit l'effet escompté, la faute à un orchestre manquant d'application et de caractère, et sans doute aussi à un Paavo Järvi peu inspiré.

La belle performance instrumentale de l'ensemble ne suffit pas à faire oublier les limites de la mise en espace et de la direction d'acteur, qui font parfois tourner l'œuvre de Monteverdi à la caricature.
