Au concert inaugural du Klarafestival 2026, la pianiste chinoise a alterné avec justesse pianisme athlétique et jeu mystérieux, volant la vedette à un Esa-Pekka Salonen en retrait.

Après les abysses du Requiem de Ligeti, le chef finlandais a su mener l'Orchestre de Paris vers une Quatrième Symphonie de Bruckner très touchante, qui a sonné comme la recréation d'un monde disparu.

Esa-Pekka Salonen et Benjamin Millepied ont uni musique et danse dans un beau programme où le Rituel in memoriam Bruno Maderna de Pierre Boulez a pris une dimension supplémentaire.

À la tête de l'Orchestre de Paris et de l'Ensemble intercontemporain réunis, le chef d'orchestre et compositeur a dirigé un superbe programme 100% finlandais (Sibelius-Lindberg-Saariaho). 

Dans un programme audacieux qui mettait en avant des compositeurs mal-aimés (Elgar et Hindemith), le chef finlandais a remporté un succès mérité.

Sous la direction du chef finlandais, l'œuvre monumentale d'Olivier Messiaen a eu du mal à retenir l'intérêt, après une belle prestation d'Axelle Fanyo et de l'Orchestre de Paris en première partie.

Après son Requiem de 2019 au Festival d'Aix, Romeo Castellucci surprend cette fois-ci par son épure et l’humilité du geste dans une Deuxième Symphonie de Mahler remarquablement dirigée par Esa-Pekka Salonen.

Esa-Pekka Salonen enfile une double casquette de chef-compositeur et présente son œuvre Karawane avant d'enchaîner au podium pour une grande version de Daphnis et Chloé de Ravel avec l'Orchestre de Paris.

L'Orchestre de Paris retrouve Nina Stemme et Gerald Finley pour une de leurs œuvres fétiches, Le Château de Barbe-Bleue. Pekka Kuusisto donne la création française du Concerto de Bryce Dessner.

Après dix-huit mois de concerts sans public, Berwaldhallen revient à la vie avec le Baltic Sea Festival et son formidable concert d'ouverture, aussi intelligent que bouleversant.

Appelé à la rescousse pour diriger l'Orchestre de Paris, le chef finlandais n'a pas souhaité diriger le Troisième de « Rachma » ; Lukas Geniušas a donc choisi le Concerto en sol de Ravel. Bonne pioche !

Créé il y a dix ans à Vienne, triomphe au Festival d’Aix qui a suivi, De la maison des morts, dans la mise en scène de Patrice Chéreau, est enfin donné sur la scène de Bastille, ici encore sous l’impulsion bienveillante de Stéphane Lissner.

La musique de Stravinsky aurait pu être la ligne directrice de cette soirée, qui débutait avec Agon et se terminait par le Sacre du Printemps (version Pina Bausch). Mais Grand Miroir, la nouvelle création de Saburo Teshigawara, suspend le fil musical de Stravinsky par une parenthèse plus méditative : le Violin Concerto composé et dirigé par Esa-Pekka Salonen.

Surréaliste, psychanalytique, ce Pélléas et Mélisande l’est donc assurément. Mais c’est peut-être sa naïveté, sa tendresse presque enfantine, qui l’emporte.

S’il fallait choisir parmi toutes les belles idées de mise en scène de ce très réussi Oedipus Rex, on s’accorderait sans doute sur celle-ci : la primauté incontestée de l’esthétique et des intentions de Stravinski.

Salonen en magicien du rythme offre un Beethoven euphorique et hédoniste.

Un Messiaen hédoniste parfaitement rendu par un Esa-Pekka Salonen spécialiste de musique française.

Avec un Philharmonia au meilleur de sa forme, un plateau exceptionnel et une direction intelligente, ce fut une sensationnelle représentation de l'unique opéra de Debussy.
