Malgré un bel Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, le programme Haydn-Beethoven a paru bien monotone voire approximatif sous la direction du célèbre pianiste et chef d'orchestre.

Le Festival international de piano de La Roque d'Anthéron a ouvert son édition 2021 avec un programme 100% Beethoven, où Vadym Kholodenko remplaçait au pied levé Nicholas Angelich.

Des flots de musique ont envahi le Palais Montcalm avec la venue devant l'Orchestre Symphonique de Québec de deux musiciens-nés, le chef Julien Masmondet et le pianiste Alain Lefèvre.

Un opus 73 de la qualité de celle de Till Fellner, aussi pétillant de vie, ne lassera jamais personne. De même, difficile d'imaginer Première Symphonie de Mahler plus dominée que celle de Herbert Blomstedt qui, dans une simplicité apparente, parvient à en dégager toutes les lignes de force.

Le chef italien aux nombreuses casquettes, directeur musical du Teatro Regio de Turin et récemment nommé à la tête du National Symphony Orchestra de Washington, rencontrait pour la première fois sur la même affiche Bertrand Chamayou, pianiste virtuose d’origine toulousaine et récemment auréolé d’une Victoire de la Musique Classique au sein de la salle hexagonale.

Un « Empereur » de Beethoven à l'imparfait, que l'on on aurait souhaité entendre au présent. Une sonorité certes blonde et plantureuse dans Ein Heldenleben de Richard Strauss, mais d'évidents signes de fatigue au sein des pupitres de l'orchestre.

Dimanche 26 juillet 2015, le Prom 12 était le 3ème et dernier concert du marathon Beethoven donné par Leif Ove Andsnes et le Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Au programme, les Concertos n°2 et 5 du grand maître. Une soirée jouissive, rayonante de joie.

Le BBC Symphony Orchestra donnait un programme Beethoven/Lutoslawski au Barbican Hall. Le chef Michal Nesterowic et le pianiste Steven Osborne ont remplacé les têtes d'affiche initialement annoncées. Un changement de distribution qui n’a pas empêché la soirée d'être réussie.

Toute pérégrination italienne près de Pompéi et Herculanum mène à Naples ; au Teatro San Carlo, le chef chinois Muhai Tang dirigeait un programme entièrement consacré à Beethoven.

Une programmation cohérente et originale, une prestation imparfaite mais sincère, des idées nouvelles : le concert Empereur de l'ONDIF, avec ses trois campagnes napoléoniennes, fut un concert intelligent.
