Bartlett Sher’s 2006 production of Rossini’s tuneful masterpiece is showing its age, but a superb cast and conductor keep the comedy moving. 

Rossini’s most famous masterpiece returns to Pesaro in Pier Luigi Pizzi’s beloved production, with a solid cast. 

Sir Thomas Allen returns to Scottish Opera to revive The Barber of Seville with a strong cast headed by Samuel Dale Johnson, Anthony Gregory, David Stout and Simone McIntosh. 

Despite some forgivable excesses, Nicola Alaimo and Cecilia Bartoli led a dream cast for a fun, engaging performance of Rossini's classic.

A bit too much buffo and scenic sensory overload mar the otherwise new enjoyable Il barbiere di Siviglia in Vienna.
