Après le cycle de mélodies berlioziennes, Gardiner et son Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique ont proposé un Songe d’une nuit d’été particulièrement incarné, sous la brise fraîche de La Côte-Saint-André.

Au Festival Berlioz, Sir John Eliot Gardiner dirige une éclatante production de Benvenuto Cellini, avec un grand Michael Spyres et une intelligente mise en espace de Noa Naamat.

Premier volet de la trilogie Monteverdi programmée à la Philharmonie en ce début de saison, cet Orfeo dirigé par Sir John Gardiner s'avère aussi envivrant musicalement que vocalement.

L’approche de Sir John Eliot Gardiner est-elle historiquement (in)acceptable ? C’est une question que le mélomane peut tranquillement confier au musicologue. Et en effet, qu’importe ? La tradition c’est, pour reprendre les mots de Mahler, transmettre le feu, et non vénérer les cendres.

Très excitante était la perspective d’entendre ce chef légendaire donner le Concerto pour piano en sol majeur de Beethoven avec l’un des meilleurs piano-fortiste actuels, un peu frustrante en fut l’issue.

Le programme de Sir John Elliott Gardiner avec The English Baroque Soloists était entièrement dévolu à Mozart : il a surtout permis de mettre en valeur la Rolls-Royce des ensembles vocaux que constitue le Monteverdi Choir. 

Le 8 novembre 2015, Sir John Eliot Gardiner interprète l'Orfeo de Monteverdi en version de concert dans la Galerie des Glaces. La qualité sans failles de The English Baroque Soloists, The Monteverdi Choir, et de chaque chanteur soliste a résulté en une interprétation qu'on pourrait qualifier de parfaite...en tout cas inoubliable.

Transformation zum Motto ausgerufen, wurde diese vielfältig und in Affekt, Kontrast und dramatischer Ansprache auf insgesamt unverändert beeindruckende Art hör- und sichtbar.

Fast nahtlos knüpfte Gardiner an alte unvergleichliche Stärken an – ein umjubeltes Erfolgskonzept.

Nicht bloß ein unvergessliches Eigenpräsent für Jubilar, Monteverdi Choir und English Baroque Soloists, sondern kategoriesprengend eindeutig für mich das beste Konzert meines Lebens.

Kontrollierter Wahnsinn und Extreme schossen ein erinnerungswürdiges Foto dieser musikalischen Paarung und luden Batterien, Geist und Brahmsbilder für Künftiges voll auf.

Unmittelbare Geschichtserzählung und -schreibung machten auch dieses Konzert bei Klangvokal Dortmund zu einem Erlebnis für die Ewigkeit.

Ein prachtvolles Konzert mit selten gehörten Werken von Brahms und Mendelssohn Bartholdy.
