Noch ehe die Lichter der bayerischen Staatsoper komplett erloschen sind, knallt es. Man entwischt dem zur Zeit nicht sehr winterlichen München und findet sich in der Hitze Südspaniens wieder. Klammheimlich hatte sich Dirigent Omer Meir Wellber ans Pult geschlichen und das munter plaudernde Publikum mit der furiosen Ouvertüre zu Carmen regelrecht zusammenzucken lassen.

Anlässlich Richard Strauss' 150. Geburtstag heizte das Bayerische Staatsorchester dem Publikum am heißesten Pfingstmontag aller Zeiten noch zusätzlich ein und bot ein rauschendes musikalisches Fest.
